The Equatorial Guinea President Teodoro Obiang Nguema paid a courtesy call to former Zimbabwe President where he later met with the current President. President Teodoro Obiang Nguema was in Zimbabwe on a two-day state visit from the 24th of May where Nguema with ousted president Robert Mugabe engaged closed doors talks where the media was also not allowed. The secret talks were held at Mugabe’s blue roof private residence in Borrowdale.
On another hand, Zimbabwe President Mnangagwa explained Nguema’s visit as a normal visit and according to the state-owned Herald newspaper, it is reported that Nguema vowed to continue working with the new administration led by President Emmerson Mnangagwa. However, reports claimed that Nguema was bankrolling Mugabe’s come back through a number of elaborate plans to get Mnangagwa out of power. Nguema has ruled Equatorial Guinea for 39 years.
