France – Former President Nicholas Sarkozy of France was taken into police custody where he was questioned as part of investigations into suspected irregularities over his 2007 elections campaign financing.
His case was connected to accusations that Nicolas received money from former Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi to fund his successful election in 2007.
Nicolas Sarkozy denied the allegations and the prosecution blames Sarkozy has spent nearly double legal limit of $24million on his lavish campaign using false billing from a PR firm. Sarkozy retired from politics in 2012 after his defeat in the elections.
