Just after a week of the announcement of the elections date in Zimbabwe which will take place on the 30th of July this year. Zimbabwe’s election credibility is already under scrutiny. The ability of voters to choose their leaders freely in this crucial pole is in serious doubt.
The government had failed to carry out legal electoral reforms despite president’s Mnangagwa’s repeated promises and assurances for a free fair and credible poll. Abuse always still remain in effect while electoral violence and intimidation witness during the primary election on both ruling parties will not be conducive to an environment for free and fair election.
Elections campaign is in full swing, and parties are battling it out. However, human rights watch has concerns. The group is accusing Zimbabwe’s electoral commission of involving serving personnel from the military in its ranks.
