Bonmatí Breaks Leg in Training Ahead of Big Nations League Match

Spain midfielder Aitana Bonmatí has been ruled out for a long time after breaking her leg during a training session on Sunday. The injury happened as she landed badly while preparing for Spain’s crucial Nations League final second-leg match against Germany, which will be played on Tuesday.

Bonmatí was already involved in the first leg of the final, where she played 77 minutes in Kaiserslautern on Friday. However, she will now miss the return match completely due to the seriousness of her injury.

The Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFF) released a statement confirming that the 27-year-old star has suffered a fracture in her left fibula. She will now begin a period of recovery and rehabilitation with her club, Barcelona.

Bonmatí has been one of the best players in women’s football in recent years. She has won the women’s Ballon d’Or three times and played a key role in Barcelona’s success last season. With her help, the club won the domestic treble, and she was also named the Champions League Player of the Season after guiding Barca to the final.

On the international stage, she was part of the Spanish team that reached the Euro 2025 final, showing her importance to the national side.

Despite her absence, Spain will still aim to defend their Women’s Nations League title successfully. La Roja will host Germany at the Riyadh Air Metropolitano Stadium on Tuesday and will be looking to finish the job without their star midfielder.

Bonmatí’s injury is a big blow for Spain and Barcelona, but fans around the world will be hoping for her full and speedy recovery.
