Dodgers Keep Calm on Hernández Trade Talk
The Los Angeles Dodgers have entered the offseason quietly, and while reports suggested they might trade outfielder Teoscar Hernández, team officials have indicated that a move is unlikely. Instead, the Dodgers appear focused on keeping their current core and strengthening their outfield through other options.
The Los Angeles Dodgers arrived at the MLB winter meetings with very little transfer activity, and the biggest discussion around the team came from rumours suggesting they were open to trading Teoscar Hernández. Several reports claimed the Dodgers had mentioned Hernández in conversations with other clubs, leading to speculation that the veteran outfielder might be on the move.
However, inside the team camp, the tone was different. Manager Dave Roberts made it clear that Hernández still fits into their plans, and he suggested that the player has played an important role in the club’s recent success. General manager Brandon Gomes also responded to the rumours, indicating that a trade did not appear likely and that the club was not expecting to move him this offseason.
The idea of trading Hernández had always seemed uncertain. The 33-year-old struggled with injuries and some defensive mistakes during the 2025 season, and his batting numbers were not as strong as previous years. Even so, the Dodgers still value his experience, leadership and contributions during their two recent World Series runs. He has also been a mentor to younger players, which the team considers important.
A trade could have helped the Dodgers get younger, especially as the front office looks for ways to refresh an ageing roster. It could also have freed up money for major signings. But at this stage of the offseason, the team appears more focused on stability rather than big changes.
The Dodgers are still exploring ways to strengthen their outfield, and they are looking at free agents and trade targets. But for now, Hernández remains part of their plans, and the team believes it can move forward without making major adjustments.
