Tottenham manager Thomas Frank condemned fans for booing goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario after his costly error in their 2–1 home loss to Fulham, as pressure on the team continued to grow.

Frank criticises Spurs fans after Vicario mistake in Fulham defeat

Tottenham Hotspur suffered a 2–1 defeat to Fulham on Saturday after a disastrous start that left their supporters frustrated and their manager speaking out. Kenny Tete gave Fulham an early lead, before a serious mistake by goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario allowed Harry Wilson to double the advantage with a curling effort into an empty net.

Following the error, Vicario was targeted with loud jeers from sections of the home crowd every time he touched the ball. Tottenham were booed off at halftime and although Mohammed Kudus pulled one goal back after the break, the atmosphere remained tense until the final whistle.

Thomas Frank later expressed his disappointment with the supporters’ reaction, saying Vicario did not deserve to be jeered during the match. While he understood the fans’ frustration due to the team’s poor home form, he believed criticism should only come after the game.

Vicario accepted responsibility for the mistake and admitted that the intention was to clear the ball, but the execution was poor. He also stated that he accepted the reaction from the crowd as part of football and stressed that players should not let it affect their focus.

Defender Pedro Porro appeared to react angrily towards the supporters as he left the pitch, although Frank said he did not see the incident clearly.

Tottenham have now managed only three wins in their last 13 matches in all competitions and sit tenth in the Premier League. Their struggles at home continue, with no league victory at their stadium since the opening weekend of the season.
