Kidnapped Sydney Man Freed in Swift Police Operation

A 53-year-old man who was allegedly kidnapped in broad daylight in Sydney’s south-west has been safely recovered following a coordinated police operation, according to 9News.

The incident occurred shortly after 6:00 am on Tuesday outside a tobacconist on Meadows Road in Mount Pritchard. CCTV footage obtained by 9News reportedly shows four men wearing balaclavas approaching the man before forcing him into a Hyundai hatchback. The victim allegedly tried to resist but was overpowered and driven away.

9News reported that police later tracked the vehicle to a property in Dural. Detectives under Strike Force Martinook launched a covert operation at about 10:30 am on Wednesday in an effort to secure the man’s release.

Police reportedly used megaphones to call on those inside the Dural property to come out. When there was no response, armed officers moved in. The missing man was successfully rescued during the operation.

He was assessed at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics and transported to the hospital in a stable condition, 9News reported.

A 16-year-old boy was arrested at the Dural property and taken to Castle Hill Police Station for questioning. Authorities confirmed that investigations are ongoing as officers work to identify and locate other suspects believed to have been involved.

Police remained at the Dural residence on Wednesday evening, collecting evidence and continuing inquiries.

The motive for the alleged kidnapping has not yet been disclosed.
