Saint-Maximin Says He Will Not Play for Haiti
Allan Saint-Maximin denied reports that he will play for the Haiti national team at the 2026 World Cup. He said he is happy for Haiti but has no plans to join them.
Allan Saint-Maximin has said very clearly that he will not play for the Haiti national team. This comes after a report from TNT Sports Mexico said he could join Haiti for the upcoming World Cup.
Saint-Maximin, who is 28 years old, plays for América in Mexico. He moved there last summer after leaving Al-Ahli and spending a loan season at Fenerbahce. This season he has played 12 games, scored three goals, and made two assists.
He played for France at youth level but never for the senior team. This means he is still allowed to choose another country. He is able to play for Haiti, who recently qualified for the World Cup in the USA, Canada, and Mexico.
But he said the rumours are not true. On X (formerly Twitter), he said he is happy for Haiti’s historic qualification and congratulated the players. He explained that some people may think he could join Haiti because he is Guadeloupean and Guyanese, but there is no plan and no process for him to play for Haiti.
Saint-Maximin also said he respects the Haiti players who worked hard to qualify. He does not want them to be linked to false stories. He wished Haiti all the best for the World Cup.
