A 30-year-old man has been charged with the murder of his father following a fatal stabbing incident at a family home in Emu Plains, western Sydney.

According to 9News, police were called to the residence on Thursday evening, where they found 58-year-old John Clark with multiple stab wounds to his upper body. Despite efforts by paramedics, he died at the scene.

The victim’s son, Evan Davis Clark, was arrested at the house and later taken to a nearby police station, where he was formally charged with domestic violence-related murder, as reported by 9News.

Authorities confirmed that there had been previous domestic violence allegations linked to the household, although no recent reports had been filed in the past few years, according to police statements cited by 9News.

Police described the incident as tragic, particularly for a family that had lived in the neighbourhood for decades. Neighbours expressed shock, saying the area is generally quiet and that they did not expect such violence to occur, 9News reported.

Emergency services, including multiple police units and a helicopter, responded to the scene, highlighting the seriousness of the situation.

The accused appeared in court shortly after his arrest, where he was denied bail. During proceedings, concerns were raised about his mental state, and he is expected to remain in custody as investigations continue, according to 9News.

Investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident are ongoing.
