Trump Media to Issue New Crypto currency to Shareholders

Technology Group, the company behind U.S. President Donald Trump’s Truth Social platform, has announced plans to issue a new cryptocurrency token to its shareholders, marking an expansion of the Trump family’s involvement in digital assets.

Under the proposal, investors holding shares of Trump Media (trading under the ticker DJT) will receive one digital token for each share they own, with distribution beginning “in the near future.” The tokens will be built on the Cronos blockchain in partnership with cryptocurrency exchange Crypto.com, and are expected to offer rewards such as product discounts and utility benefits tied to Truth Social, Truth+, and Trump Media’s fintech arm, Truth.Fi, reports Globe Newswire.

The move follows a year in which Donald Trump, who retains significant ownership of Trump Media through a trust, touted his administration’s pro-crypto stance, pledging to make the United States “the crypto capital of the world.” Critics have questioned potential conflicts between public policy and private financial interests as the first family’s crypto ventures have proliferated, which some estimates suggest have generated hundreds of millions of dollars from initiatives including the $TRUMP meme coin and other digital asset projects.

Market reaction was positive, however, as Trump Media shares rose roughly 4–5% in early trading following the announcement, reflecting investor enthusiasm around the digital token plan.

In a statement, Trump Media CEO and Chairman Devin Nunes said the token distribution is designed to “reward Trump Media shareholders and promote fair and transparent markets,” highlighting blockchain’s role in the company’s broader fintech strategy.

Analysts note that while the tokens are not equity and cannot be exchanged for cash, the initiative underscores Trump Media’s deepening foray into crypto and blockchain as part of its business diversification.
