Formula One world champion Max Verstappen delivered a commanding performance to win the Las Vegas Grand Prix on Saturday. The Red Bull driver overtook pole-sitter Lando Norris at the first turn of Sin City’s street circuit and maintained the lead throughout the race, finishing over 20 seconds ahead of the field for the 69th Grand Prix victory of his career.

Britain’s Lando Norris finished second, consolidating his position atop the season standings with 408 points and a 30-point lead over McLaren teammate Oscar Piastri, who finished fourth. Mercedes’ George Russell completed the podium in third.

The 50-lap race followed a dramatic qualifying session on Friday, where heavy rain created difficult conditions that Verstappen compared to “driving on ice.” Saturday’s race was held in cooler, dry conditions, which Verstappen quickly exploited.

Norris, aiming to block Verstappen at the start, ran off the track and dropped positions, later being passed by Russell. “I made the mistake into turn one. You’ve got to be punchy there, and I was a bit too punchy,” Norris admitted. He added that second place was still a solid result.

Verstappen praised Red Bull’s tyre strategy, which allowed him to manage the race effectively. “We had more pace and could split the race in half, which helped a lot. The car was working well, and I felt comfortable every lap,” he said.

While Verstappen retains a mathematical chance to claim a fifth consecutive title, he acknowledged the challenge of catching Norris in the remaining two races in Qatar and Abu Dhabi.

Piastri, who collided with Liam Lawson at the start, described a tough race and admitted that his championship hopes had been set back. “It would be nice to get some good results to finish the year, but the championship picture is what it is,” he said.

Saturday’s race highlighted Verstappen’s skill and strategic control, while Norris continues his pursuit of a maiden drivers’ title with two rounds remaining.
